Holiday Cottages in Yorkshire

With such a diverse area and so much to do and see your search for Holiday Cottages in Yorkshire couldn’t be easier with Welcome Cottages. Yorkshire is the largest county in the UK and is also known as God’s Own Country, an amazing mix of landscape, history, culture and home cooked cuisine. The locals are famous for being friendlier, they say the air is cleaner and the beer better so why not come along and see for yourself. Choose now from a fabulous selection of self-catering Yorkshire Cottages.

The North Yorkshire Moors are a completely unspoilt upland area butting up to the east coast and are a perfect place to getaway and recharge your batteries in one of our Yorkshire Holiday Cottages. In contrast are the famous Dales, a patchwork quilt of green fields, stone built Yorkshire Dales Cottages, villages, sheep farms, dry stone walls and limestone pavements, most notably found at Malham with its famous tarn. Add to this great walking along river valleys ascending up to majestic hills and stunning views, all glorious against the dramatic ever changing sky line.

Britain’s oldest seaside resort, Scarborough, still retains much of its grandeur but some of the more rugged coastline is found between Whitby, Robin’s Hood Bay and further north towards Staithes. Choose one of our Whitby Holiday Cottages and make the most of award winning blue flag beaches and enjoy an almost perfect fishing harbour all right on your doorstep. Whitby Cottages are very popular and get booked up with people returning year after year loving the lively town with lots to do and the freshly cooked locally caught fish and chips! Many parts of the Yorkshire coastline are designated as Heritage Coast areas and play host to a large variety of wildlife and many RSPB Bird Reserves for the nature lovers amongst us.

The walled city of York is a wonderful day out with many attractions to delight everyone including York Minster which dominates the cityscape and is the second largest cathedral of its kind in Northern Europe. The Jorvik Viking Centre is a museum built on an excavated site once called Jorvik and will transport you back to life in the 10th Century. Add to this many medieval towns with a mixture of Georgian and Victorian architecture, Ripon and Richmond amongst them. The bustling market town of Skipton, ‘Gateway to the Dales’, is a must with a busy main street leading up to the most complete and best preserved castle in Britain. There are many more historic castles and famous stately homes to choose from all over the county or perhaps plan a trip to cosmopolitan Leeds the largest city in Yorkshire.

Yorkshire really does have something to suit everyone and a self-catering cottage can really add to your whole holiday experience. There is so much more to discover in Yorkshire if you book with Welcome Cottages.
