Hidden Treasure is a traditional Victorian, terraced townhouse situated in the heart of the popular fishing town of Whitby and perfect as a getaway for a larger family. Set over four floors, the property retains many of the original features including fireplaces. This family-orientated property consists of eight bedrooms, two of which are en-suite, as well as two family bathrooms including a Victorian-style bathroom with a roll-top bath. The kitchen has a real social feel and is perfect for evening gatherings after a day enjoying one of the many coastal and National Park attractions on the doorstep. There are amazing views from the top floor bedrooms across the rooftops and over to the famous abbey on the East Cliff, which was the inspiration for Bram Stoker’s Dracula. The public areas are perfect for places for gathering the whole family together, and there is even a serving hatch linking the kitchen to the dining room. The dining room also has a decorative fireplace and plenty of seating around the dining table for fifteen, meaning your whole party can enjoy celebrating together. The main family sitting room is situated on the first floor.
Hidden Treasure is situated on a quiet residential street, yet is only a short walk from the hustle and bustle of this thriving coastal town. There is an abundance of independent coffee shops and tea rooms to choose from, as well as traditional, dog friendly pubs, many with live music throughout the week. Whitby is quickly gaining a great reputation for its diverse eateries, from award-winning fish and chips to bistros and delis which can also be found around the harbour and waterfront.
Whitby, like York, has its own run of cobbled streets which is where you will find jewellers selling the famous Whitby Jet. There is also a small daily outside market, as well as a large indoor market situated moments away. The cobbled streets lead you to the bottom of the 199 steps up to Whitby Abbey for some breathtaking views across the town and out to sea. Whitby boasts 3km of golden sands, with designated dog walking areas, that stretches along to the increasingly popular village of Sandsend.
The Yorkshire Heritage Coast is dotted with small bays and intimate coves, each with its own history of pirates and smugglers, such as Robins Hood’s Bay, Runswick Bay and Staithes. Head inland to enjoy the stunning natural beauty of the North York Moors National Park with its myriad of cycle and footpaths, including The Cleveland Way and The Cinder Track. Step back in time on board the Harry Potter Express, which snakes its way through to the heart of the National Park and Goathland, better known as Heartbeats’ ’Aidensfield’. The medieval walled city of York is just a short drive away with its minster, Jorvik Viking Centre and the National Railway Museum, as well many shops and hostelries within the walls of this bustling city. Beach ½ miles. Shop, pub and restaurant 75 yards.
Hidden Treasure can be booked together with Little Treasure (UK2542) to accommodate up to 19 guests.
