Warrior, named after the original ‘war horse’ that originated from the island, is one of 5 beautiful holiday homes that form The Gallops complex at the Island Riding Centre, which opened in 2017 and is ideally located in the centre of the island just minutes from many attractions and beaches. With a choice of holiday accommodation surrounded by countryside it features a children’s play area, a variety of on site farm animals and unrivalled equestrian facilities making it a popular holiday destination for families, horse lovers and those on business.
Accessed off the pedestrian walkway surrounding the landscaped courtyard with low level threshold, the ground floo,r which is wooden throughout, features an open plan living space and is ideal for modern family living with a dining area, ample seating and a well-equipped kitchen. A Freeview Smart TV is linked to the free Wi-Fi providing a choice of media entertainment. An additional ground floor shower room with toilet makes this property ideal for larger groups. The first floor has a master bedroom with kingsize bed and in addition there is a large twin room, a third bedroom with a full size bunk bed and a family bathroom with shower over bath, and toilet.
With an ’eco-friendly’ ethos, the complex boasts solar panels, rainwater harvesting and a bacteria based waste water treatment facility. Consideration has been given to those with mobility impairment and construction was completed using the National Accessible Scheme (NAS) criteria. This property is comparable to M1, which is typically suitable for a person with sufficient mobility to climb a flight of steps but with the added benefit of a second downstairs bathroom. Ample parking is provided in the adjacent car park, and a free electric charging point is available. A communal area with seating and sun loungers overlooking a small paddock housing some of the owner’s Shetland ponies and friendly resident sheep, Lambo and Cloudy, is available for guests, as is the enclosed children’s play area with a ‘mini-beach’, sand area and football goals. For horse riding enthusiasts the on site riding school offers lessons from qualified instructors and caters for riders of all ages and abilities including beginners, wheelchair users and those with limited mobility, guests receive 10% discount on all on site riding too! The equestrian centre boasts a 60m x 25m indoor wax-fibre arena with viewing areas, tack shop and cafe, a 60m x 40m outdoor arena with quality wax surface and superb drainage. For guests wishing to bring their own horses, there is a purpose-built livery yard with horse walker, sheltered wash down area, solarium and ample grazing (subject to ground conditions). On-site hacking is also available as are escorted off-site trail and beach rides.
The island’s capital town of Newport is less than 5 minutes’ drive whilst Ryde with its pleasant beaches is less than 15 minutes away. Both are accessible by a direct bus (no 9) which stops right outside the main entrance. A selection of pubs, shops, takeaways, chemist and post office are located in Wootton just over a mile away. The island is a paradise for walkers, country lovers, bird watchers and cyclists. There are local forests to enjoy walks and horse riding, and for cyclists there is a choice of challenging off road bridleways, peaceful byways and level purpose-made tracks running along former railway lines.
