There is so much to see and do in this delightful region with Blenheim Palace, Oxford and Warwick with its impressive castle. The interior is presented in good order and offers lots of extras for guests to enjoy including an extensive library of literature, history and politics. A quirky cottage with allsorts of nooks & crannies; just remember to duck! Lovely garden, Woodpeckers & other birds plus a couple of Squirrels to entertain. Quiet & cosy, everything & more you need for a comfy stay.

We were very disappointed with the cottage. The cottage was smelt musty and in places (e.g. the downstairs toilet) was definitely damp. The main lounge had no comfortable seating, and the sun lounge was not much better. The lighting was so dull, it was difficult to read or knit. The kitchen heating did not work, so we had to carry a radiator from the damp, "den" to the kitchen and use that. The bin was not emptied when we arrived. Some of the crockery was chipped and should not have been presented for use by guests. The TV is very old (1980s), despite several previous guests pointing this out. The oven only worked if you banged it with your knee (recommended by the owners!). The cottage was full of a previous owners possessions, e.g. a pipe rack, numerous books and videos, rather than being furnished for present day guests. Altogether, it was not a cottage we looked forward to returning to after a day out. Much below the levels of comfort we have come to expect from a cottage. The age of the cottage is irrelevant - we have stayed in very comfortable, old cottages. This was not one of them.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; Firstly thank you for staying with us at vine cottage and thank you for your review. We’re so sorry you didn’t enjoy your holiday, we always tell our guests to ring us if there is a problem, and in the case of one of the kitchen radiators, we could have had a plumber there the same or next day to fix what turned out to be an airlock which had just happened. There is now a new oven. All our guests sign the visitors book and in invariably say how comfy and well equipped the cottage is and in several cases return regularly.
