Todd Fell Cottage is a semi-detached barn conversion situated on a working sheep and goat farm. It features an open plan living space with wooden floor, vaulted ceilings with exposed beams and a warming wood burner, perfect for a couple’s cosy night in. The bright living area gets plenty of natural light thanks to the glass frontage, and the modern furnishings throughout provide the ingredients for a memorable stay. The bedroom comes with a comfortable kingsize bed and quality furnishings, leading to an en-suite bathroom with toasty underfloor heating.

Located in the south eastern part of the Lake District National Park, just a few miles north of Kendal, you’ll soon feel totally relaxed in this unspoilt part of Cumbria. As the River Sprint tumbles through the valley of Longsleddale, it provides picturesque scenery and some excellent walking and cycling routes nearby. To the north you’ll find the hamlet of Sadgill where you can follow the trail over Kentmere Pike down to the village of Staveley, home to the famous Hawkshead Brewery and an excellent village pub offering a welcome reward for your efforts. You’re likely to spot plenty of wildlife including buzzards, kestrels, hares, deer and the occasional red squirrel, and it’s the perfect remedy to get away from the fast pace of the 21st century.

Only 6 miles to the south you’ll find Kendal, aptly named the ’gateway to The Lakes’. You’ll be greeted by a busy shopping centre with independent coffee shops, cafés, bars, restaurants, pubs serving local ales, and of course the usual big brands. It boasts four of the major supermarkets if you want to stock up on supplies as well as plenty of sights to keep you busy including art galleries, museums, a climbing wall, dry ski slope and cinema. An absolute must if you love your food is a visit to the local à la carte restaurant, housed in a 16th-century bolt-hole used by Catherine Parr, legend says it is linked to Kendal Castle via an underground tunnel network. A short drive to the west and you’ll reach Lake Windermere, home to the popular lakeside towns of Windermere, Bowness and Ambleside. From here you can ride on the traditional steamers or take the steam railway line to Haverthwaite, a great day out for all the family. Beach 18¾ miles. Shop 5 miles, pub and restaurant 6 miles.

Todd Fell Cottage has an interconnecting door with Todd Fell Barn (ref UK10853) and they can be booked together to accommodate up to 6 guests.

We spent a week at this fantastic and unforgettable cottage. The village and natural setting is unique offering isolation and excellent views of the Longsleddale valley. We enjoyed the hikes from Longsleddale and watching the sheep, goats, birds and natural life all around. One could not ask for a more idyllic and comfortable location for the eastern side of the Lake District. Thank you and will certainly be back soon!
