For the perfect peaceful, relaxing holiday, with access to some excellent walks and cycle rides right from the gate, Throstle Hall Cottage is an ideal base for exploring the Ribble Valley and Yorkshire Dales, and, of course, Pendle Hill and the surrounding countryside. There are few properties in this area with such a superb outlook over the Ribble Valley and Yorkshire Dales. This detached cottage is located in farmland at Brownlow Farm in Twiston, just 1½ miles from the village of Barley, and just a bit further to the delightful village of Downham, where time has stood still. From the cottage, you can see the magnificent peaks of Pen-Y-Ghent, Ingleborough and Whernside, as well as the Trough and Forest of Bowland.
Lovingly renovated into a four bedroom holiday home, this ’upside down’ house offers some surprises! The cottage is accessed via a steep private unmade farm track. Gates must be closed and care is required on approach and departure. It has a terraced garden and a paved patio area for enjoying the peace and tranquillity of the surroundings. No traffic noises or street lights here! The property further benefits from access to 15 acres of private farmland, where the owners have brought the fields back into productivity and planted over 4500 hedgerow and 400 trees to encourage wildlife and birds. The town of Clitheroe is just 5 miles away, dominated by its castle perched high above the town, and is rich in independent shops, eateries, bars and a popular brewery. Supermarkets can be found at Clitheroe and Barrowford. Beach 30 miles. Shops 3 miles, pub and restaurant 2 miles.
