The Old Stores is set in a quiet, unspoiled corner of East Sussex on the southern edge of the Weald, which is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It is the type of cottage that makes you want to fling off your boots, and curl up in front of the fire after a long walk through the surrounding woods and countryside. During the summer months, the undoubted highlight is the extensive gardens and heated outdoor pool - a little holiday oasis.
This arts and crafts house boasts wonderfully quirky styling. The large kitchen is a cosy room with the rayburn radiating its warmth in the corner - this is all part of the adventure as the stove feeds the heating and hot water and will require your log burning skills during your stay (this is quite straightforward and instructions are provided)! Offering a choice of two sitting rooms - with a log burner in the spacious open plan sitting and dining room and an open fire in the snug. This cottage will charm family groups getting together to catch up and spend quality time together. Upstairs there are four bedrooms, two bathrooms and a children’s playroom with sofa bed, all set off the central galleried landing.
The gardens are a delight to discover with mature fruit trees, the glorious swimming pool, a pond and secluded areas for relaxation in the peace and quiet. Nestled at the top of the garden and overlooking stunning views east across the Sussex Weald, there is a raised decking platform with log seats and a fire pit - the perfect natural spot to gather round the fire with a guitar and some marshmallows on a warm summer’s evening.
This child and pet friendly house backs onto relaxed farmland and there are plenty of walks from the door, which could easily finish at the village inn just up the road. Heading out of the village and within easy reach are the seaside towns and beaches of Pevensey Bay and Hastings, Rye and the famous 1066 country. Ideal for families and responsible adult groups, The Old Stores is a self-catering holiday cottage to remember for years to come.
