The old barn has been newly refurbished to a high standard with recycled materials used where possible. Loved the old oak beams used throughout. There is every provision for a comfortable stay. A small basket with some local produce was a lovely touch, as too the tasteful Xmas decoration. For me, the mattress was a little too soft but that is a personal choice. The barn is located on the side of Long Mynd, a lovely flat topped hill, approx 8 miles long, great for all round scenic walks. There's also a narrow road that takes you from the nearby telephone box, over Long Mynd to Church Stretton. Maybe not for the faint hearted but good fun with great views! The beautiful medieval town of Ludlow is only half hour drive away, Shrewsbury about 40 mins. Villages of Much Wenlock and Ironbridge also well worth visiting (can be done same day as within 4 miles each other) again only half hour's drive. Shropshire is a rather small county with lots to see and do without driving too far. As I had a flat tyre on Xmas day, I did miss out on a couple trips, but the locals were lovely, giving me a lift to and from church in Wentnor (beautiful rural old church, well worth the visit). Stiperstones is a fantastic ridge walk, only 6 miles away. Rocky outcrops and 360 degrees gorgeous views. Unfortunately, I couldn't visit any of the castles as they were closed over Xmas. Stokesay was the one I particularly wanted to see. Thank you Tim and Julie for your warm welcome and kindness. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay! Rachael
