Situated in rural Perthshire, The Lodge Cottage, set on the roadside, is a traditional, detached, stone-built cottage dating back to the late 1700s with 2ft thick walls. The lodge is on a working farm and is the perfect location for couples, friends or small families to spend time together and explore this most fabulous area of Perthshire and beyond.

All on one level, the property has been refurbished in 2018 to provide the ideal cottage holiday and has been furnished to a very good standard. A welcoming living and dining area with an electric wood burner is just the spot to curl up with a book for a lazy afternoon. The kitchen, with a breakfast bar, is fitted with quality appliances and has been thoughtfully equipped with everything to prepare your meals. There is also a beautifully presented master bedroom with a kingsize bed, a twin bedroom and family bathroom. The added benefit of central heating throughout makes it warm and cosy.

The Lodge Cottage has a south-facing garden, the perfect place to relax with a glass of wine or morning coffee and enjoy the view over the countryside. By prior arrangement with the owner, guests can bring their horse or pony, or book tuition with the renowned equestrian eventing centre, which is within walking distance.

Crieff is only 7 miles away and makes a good day out, with tourist attractions, an excellent delicatessen and café selling local produce, craft shops, galleries, local shops and a supermarket. Crieff has The Famous Grouse whisky distillery at Glenturret where there are tours, tastings and a restaurant. The town holds events throughout the year including the Crieff Highland Games and the autumn Drovers’ Tryst Walking Festival. A little further away is the pretty, riverside, market town of Aberfeldy, 26 miles.

This area provides outdoor activities for all levels, and if you prefer more strenuous activities, mountains such as Ben Vorlich, Ben Chonzie and Ben Lawers provide excellent walking. There is also mountain biking locally, and watersports available on Loch Earn. For the less energetic, there are level walks along the banks of the River Earn and Tay. Fishing is available at many of the local rivers, and for the more extreme river enthusiast, there is salmon fishing on the River Tay. Golfing is easily accessible with an abundance of courses within easy reach.

Based on the farm is an equestrian eventing facility, and there are 80 acres of wooded parkland containing over 100 cross country jumps where wildlife abounds, beautiful views and easy walking. Permission is required for access to this field as horses maybe schooling there.

The bustling city of Perth is only 7 miles away, packed with quality places to eat and drink, or why not visit the theatre and galleries? For a spot of retail therapy, there is a super selection of boutiques as well as high street names. A great way to see the sights including the parks, gardens and ancient buildings, is by taking a boat trip on the River Tay (seasonal). There are many historic castles and buildings worth a visit including Scone Palace, and for fans of the TV series ‘Outlander’, there are numerous locations used in the making of the series. Drummond Castle and Garden, Stirling Castle, Doune Castle and Hopetoun House, Stirling, Edinburgh and Glasgow are all easily accessible for day trips. The bus route for Perth and Crieff is close by.

The Lodge Cottage is perfect for a last minute escape into the contryside, and for guests planning a romantic bolthole, you will find a bottle chilling in the fridge and a welcome pack. There is a supermarket 6 miles away at Perth. Post Office/shop, pub and restaurant 1 mile.

We had a lovely stay at The Lodge Cottage. The house is well equipped with everything you require and is very comfortable and cosy. The view over the beautiful countryside is stunning. Hazel and Howard were so welcoming and could not have been more helpful about telling us of local restaurants and places of interest to visit. We thoroughly enjoyed are stay and will certainly be going back.

An excellently equipped properly with every need catered for. The owners could not have been more helpful and accommodating. The location was ideal for my visit but there are ample locations and places of interest to suit many tastes. It is a place I would readily book again.
