Accommodation description

All on ground floor: Living/dining room with patio doors/kitchen area. 1 twin bedroom. Bathroom with bath, shower cubicle and toilet.

Gas central heating, electricity, bed linen, towels and Wi-Fi included. Microwave. Washing machine. Use of owners freezer on request. Small enclosed patio garden and furniture. Parking. No smoking. Wheelchair ramp available.

Only 3 miles from the sandy beach at Sandown, this very comfortable single-storey cottage boasts wonderful panoramic views over the surrounding countryside. Adjoining the owners’ home, with lovely walking from the doorstep, it makes an ideal base from which to explore the numerous places of interest on this beautiful island. Bembridge, its natural harbour crammed with yachts and houseboats, Brading Roman Villa, Carisbrooke Castle and Osborne House – the summer home designed by Prince Albert for Queen Victoria in the 1840s – are all well worth a visit, as are the island’s steam railway, the zoo and the busy yachting centre of Cowes. Riding and golf close by. Shop and pub 0.5 miles.

It was our first time staying at the Galley. It's a lovely cottage. Very clean and comfortable. The owners Pat and Bill were there to welcome us and were very helpful and friendly. We would definitely stay here again

There was everything there we could wish for. The owners Pat & Bill were always helpful and recommended lovely places to visit and to walk our dogs. We were even able to walk our dogs around their fields which was a huge bonus especially first thing in the mornings and late in the evenings. It was so lovely to be in the middle of fields of vegetables growing. It was quite a wrench to leave and hopefully we will visit again next year. There is so much on the island to see and everywhere is so dog friendly. Thank you Pat & Bill.

Only reason location and comfort and equipment score 9, is because if like me you have a dog who will climb and jump, the patio area is not secure enough to contain them! You will have to drive to walking destination with larger dogs though there is a field to walk your dog to toilet. Otherwise, everything was perfect and Pat is a lovely landlady who is very helpful :0)
