Nestled in the historic heart of Wirksworth, this elegant property was built originally as a lawyer’s office. Guests will love exploring hidden corners of this quirky market town. Surrounded by rolling Derbyshire Dales countryside and with cafés, bistros and vintage shops on the doorstep, The Counting House is an ideal, year-round destination.
The area boasts an abundance of attractions. Stately homes such as Chatsworth House, Kedleston, Haddon and Hardwick Halls are all within easy reach. At Cromford the Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage Site offers a fascinating insight into the region’s industrial past. Plentiful footpaths and trails provide a great choice of routes for walkers and cyclists. Visit nearby Carsington Water for bike hire, sailing, windsurfing, fishing and bird watching.
Wirksworth is a creative, vibrant community where there is always something going on. There is a weekly produce market and monthly farmers’ market, plus a host of annual events including the Well Dressing Carnival, Arts Festival, Open Gardens and ‘Antiques in the Streets’. The town also offers several pubs, a heritage centre and its own independent cinema. Shop, pub and restaurant 50 yards.
