The bathroom has a wonderful rain shower and outside, magnificent views down the valley can be savoured from the pretty raised terrace. The Coach House also has a small balcony and a courtyard herb garden. The village boasts two award-winning gastronomic country pubs. There is wonderful walking - the Berwyn Mountains are on the doorstep and Snowdonia is within easy reach - also bird watching and pony trekking. Chirk, an historic border town, has a good selection of shops, a magnificent castle (NT) and the 19th-century Telford aqueduct, whilst Llangollen’s steam trains, horse-drawn canal boat trips and world famous music Eisteddfod are within easy reach. Shop 5 miles, pubs serving food 100 yards.

We had a fantastic 4 night stay at The Coach House. Great cosy upside down cottage with lovely views and very well equipped (only negative was the wood burner being difficult to light). Cottage is in a lovely peaceful location with plenty of walking straight from the doorstep. Added bonus of 2 pubs in the village we ate twice at The Hand and had 2 superb meals. We had such a relaxing time away from it all at The Coach House and would definitely like to return in the future.

This is a clean, well equipped cottage & it felt very welcoming as we walked in. Very quiet with a lovely outlook from the patio doors. Would definitely recommend.

The Coach House is perfectly situated to explore the surrounding area and is set in a lovely little village with fantastic views. There are two gastro pubs in the village, but nothing else. It is an upside down house and although we had a good holiday, it could be better. The equipment in the kitchen was a mish mash of stuff and gave the impression that the owners had filled the cupboards with things they no longer use. The sofas were quite uncomfortable and the wood burner needs a service and better instructions. The only way we could get it to light was to leave the door open. The standard of cleanliness was quite poor with several cobwebs in the corners and layers of dust on several surfaces. We also found items of underwear left in the drawers and cutlery in the dishwasher from the previous guests. The cooker and hob are not the easiest to use. The bathroom is a good layout and the shower is fantastic - we are likely to try recreate this bathroom in our own home when we do our bathroom up! The patio terrace is also a good feature with great views over the fields. With a little thought and investment, plus employing a better cleaner the Coach House could easily achieve top marks in every area.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; Thank you - Our priority is always our guests’ enjoyment of their stay and so we take their feedback very seriously. It was, however, with considerable disbelief that we read these comments. There is much discussion about this type of aberrant review which runs contrary to the views of most guests and which can be potentially very damaging. The Coach House is thoroughly cleaned each time to prepare for new guests. It is, of course, quite possible that over two weeks cobwebs may appear - but not layers of dust. The oven and hob are modern. We understand that some guests away from home may be uneasy about coping in a different kitchen, so there are very clear, helpful instructions provided on how to operate everything. It is a normal log-burner and the chimney is swept regularly; there are also simple guidelines on how to use it. Any issue can easily be resolved if we are alerted. We are rather surprised that none of this was mentioned when we called to enquire how everything was. If items are inadvertently left behind, they are generally found and returned. We are sorry that clearly something escaped the check on this occasion. The sofas are good quality, British made; one is new this summer. The crockery and cutlery are M&S, John Lewis, Viner’s etc., specifically chosen. Finally, the personal attack on our hardworking housekeeper, calling for her to be sacked and so lose her livelihood, is most concerning.
