Originally the village brewing house, serving the adjacent former public house (which last served as a pub in the 1940’s), this detached stone building had stood dejected and deserted right at the centre of the village green for many years. Overgrown with brambles it took the vision and commitment of its current owners to set to work in extending and carefully converting The Brew House to its current glory.
The rustic charm of The Brew House is enhanced by the use of green oak in many of the fixtures and fittings. A cosy living room centres round the wood burner, while the conservatory provides an ideal sunny spot for dining. The accommodation has the benefit of a contemporary wet room and well equipped kitchen. On the first floor the delightful bedroom has careful styling to compliment the character of the cottage and is full of charm, with beams, oak flooring, cottage windows and views over the green and river beyond. With its Westmorland oak veranda and stylish mix of ancient stonework and contemporary design, the cottage now sits comfortably at the centre of the village, a perfect bolthole for couples looking to enjoy a break in a friendly village ideal for making the most of this unspoilt area.
A delightful and particularly pretty Westmorland Dales village, the River Lyvennet runs through Maulds Meaburn, and the village green is frequented by grazing sheep. Walkers and cyclists alike will find no end of routes for all abilities straight from the door. An area dotted with small villages, meandering rivers, traditional pubs and village coffee shops. Sitting in the Westmorland Dales, Maulds Meaburn sits inside The Yorkshire Dales National Park whilst The Lake District and glorious Ullswater can be reached in under an hour. For an unspoilt and natural landscape the Eden Valley and North Pennines sit close at hand. Closer to home a short drive takes guests to Appleby, a pretty town where its riverside setting offers historic buildings, castle, a riverside Site of Special Scientific Interest and a wide selection of independent retailers, coffee shops and traditional pubs. Shop and restaurant 5 miles, pub 1 mile.
