Accommodation description

Sheabhal is a beautiful holiday home in the far reaches of the United Kingdom on the Isle of South Uist. Situated only 6 miles from Lochboisdale, the main village on the island and where the Mallaig ferry docks. The house is detached, set within its own wee croft which is fully-enclosed, only a mile from the Atlantic Ocean and the stunning white-sand beaches which the Outer Hebrides are known for. Inland from Sheabhal are the hills, moors and lochs of South Uist accessed in part by the old peat roads. Close by is the one of the best-preserved Neolithic chambered cairns in the Uists (Reineval), and also one of the easiest to access. Nestled within the hills of Reineval, Sheabhal and Arnabhal this home from home is a very atmospheric and unique spot for exploring the Uists.
The house itself has been creatively and lovingly finished. The attention to detail by the owner is very impressive and the fixtures and fittings are of a very high standard. Entering the property there is a very helpful porch area to keep your boots and coats after hardy adventures in the hills or along the coast. The hallway draws you through to the dining room past the stairs, but first the living room is on the right and leads round to the dining room and kitchen. The living room is spacious and light, and has views to the front of the property. It has a large TV and a fabulous multi-fuel stove. The dining room is a lovely space with a bespoke Scandinavian-style table; benched one-side with chairs on the other. The inviting kitchen is off of the dining room and has all modern appliances to cook up hearty meals for the intrepid family. From the dining room there is a hallway that leads to a modern extension. On the way through to the extension there is a utility area with washing machine and tumble dryer, as well as a downstairs bathroom with shower over enamel bath. The brass fittings and tiling keeps up the theme of lovely flourishes and finishes. The airy double height extension hosts a second living space perfect as a reading and writing room, because it also has a desk. The sofa is a double-futon sofa bed. Back towards the front of the house there is a double bedroom, the pink room. It has a lovely wrought-iron bed and enjoys views towards the coast. The first floor has two double bedrooms both of which are spacious and enjoy views to the west and the North Atlantic Ocean. There is also a small toilet between the bedrooms.
Sheabhal is a special property in a truly outstanding part of the world. A holiday on South Uist is adventurous, escapist, and by staying at Sheabhal you will have a memorable holiday that the whole family will enjoy. Three miles to the south is the village of Daliburgh, which has a bar, restaurant and supermarket. To the north, only a mile away, is the Kildonan Museum which has a café and craft shop. Also important to note, those that are golfers, is the close proximity to Sheabhal of a true hidden gem designed by Old Tom Morris: Askernish GC. Beach 1 mile. Shop, pub and restaurant 3½ miles.
