Accommodation description

This wonderfully spacious, semi-detached, stone built cottage is adjacent to the owner’s home and is found in the heart of the Calder Valley, and offers simply outstanding countryside views over the stunning rural surroundings. Conveniently located between Sowerby Bridge, Mytholmroyd and Hebden Bridge, you can enjoy ample walking and cycling direct from the door, with easy access to local village amenities. The garden is a particular delight, and inside, the cottage has been finished to a beautifully high standard throughout with the added benefit of underfloor heating and a wood burner.
Nearby the famous Pennine Way, Calderdale Way and Cragg Vale provide excellent walking and cycling with the National Cycle Network Route 66 on the doorstep, the Tour de France 2014 was hosted in the area. The Peak District National Park can be reached in around 40 minutes, and offers a wide range of outdoor opportunities. The birthplace of Poet Laureate Ted Hughes, Mytholmroyd is just a 5-minute drive away, and the charming and vibrant market town of Hebden Bridge (winner of the small market town 2016) can be reached within a 10-minute drive. Haworth, most famous for its Bronte heritage, can be reached in around half an hour. Shibden Hall, an exquisite, 600 year old timber manor house, set within 37 hectares, is close by as is the Grade l listed Piece Hall, the last remaining example of the great northern cloth halls, which has recently undergone a £19 million restoration programme. There are many more heritage buildings, beautiful parks and National Trust properties all within an easy commute, such as Hardcastle Crags, Towneley Hall, the Yorkshire Sculpture Park and the picturesque Bolton Abbey. For those wanting to give their cars a rest, Mytholmroyd, Sowerby Bridge and Hebden Bridge all have a train station with direct services to both Manchester and Leeds (less than an hour away). This cottage is absolutely fabulous, home from home except we don't have the view or the peace and quiet that you get here. Alan the owner is very welcoming and very helpful with the local knowledge. We never thought that we would sleep in beds just like our own but these are King size and oh so comfortable. The amenities here are wonderful even down to every appliance that you would have in your own home. Only one suggestion I would make and that is you need a shower mat in the shower, I'm in my late 70's and disabled and a bit unsteady on my feet but otherwise I can't fault anything. We hopefully will be going back.

Recently back from a weeks holiday at Sands Farm cottage with our 2 children and our dog. A fantastic property in a beautiful location. What really stood out for us was the kindness and helpfulness of the cottage's owners. From leaving a fantastic welcome pack, to showing us local walks and places of interest to leaving tennis racquets and balls for our girls to enjoy! If we return to this part of the country, we would not hesitate to book it again and we certainly would recommend to others! Thank you Alan Sally and Eddy!
