Old Mill Cottage is the perfect, romantic getaway for guests wanting a peaceful location, with the vibrant centre of Whitby within a short distance. This semi-detached property, has been thoughtfully decorated and offers a comfy bedroom, open plan living space and a small garden to the front of the property, as well as open fields to the rear, which can be seen from the bedroom. Relax in front of the open fire after a day of walking the Cinder Path to Robin Hoods Bay and taking in the sights of the North York Moors, which are found on the doorstep.
The wonderful, gothic town of Whitby has something for everyone, from the Whitby Abbey to the old town and its cobbled back streets complete with bazaars. No visit to Whitby is complete without challenging the 199 steps to top of the town and Abbey; its definitely worth the effort for the view alone. Whitby plays host to regular events such as the Steampunk festival, the Bram Stoker Film festival, the Whitby Regatta and the now world famous Goth Weekender. A little closer to home, Hawsker has a warm and cosy local pub that serves good food, and for outdoor enthusiasts, there’s a disused railway line only a few hundred yards away that stretches 21 miles from Whitby to Scarborough.
The North York Moors National Park lies just inland from the North Yorkshire coastal resorts of Whitby and Scarborough, with over 1,400 miles of trails, footpaths and bridleways. Carving a pathway deep through the North York Moors, is the famous North York Moors Steam Railway, which carries its passengers from Pickering in the south northward to the ‘Heartbeat’ country and Goathland. A little further afield are the rolling hills and picture-perfect river valleys of the Yorkshire Dales.
There is so much to see and do when based at Old Mill Cottage including a visit to Lightwater Valley or Flamingo Land, or spend a day strolling along the wall in the medieval city of York. Beach 3 miles. Shop 1 mile, pub and restaurant 500 yards.

The pros, Very quiet and peaceful, good spot to travel from, shower excellent, nice welcome from host, pretty garden and the bed was comfy. Cons, I found the sofa uncomfortable, after two days I had a bad back so had to sit on an upright chair for the rest of my holiday. Others have said the cottage was cosy, I think that was a polite way of saying it was cramped. The cooker knobs had no marking on, so it was difficult to use and we couldn’t get the grill to work. Thankfully there was a microwave. The WiFi/ broadband was terrible. We wouldn’t stay there again if we come to Whitby again coz I think there are better places available for the money.

Really enjoyed our Christmas stay at Mill Cottage. Perfect size for the two of us and our two dogs. Cosy open fire, there was a stall outside a farm near the pub that sold wood & kindling. Local pub approx. 5 mins away that welcome dogs and does great food. Had a walk to Robin Hoods bay on Christmas eve and another walk to Whitby on Boxing day, both via the cinder path. Would definitely stay again :-)
