Alnwick Castle, home to the Duke and Duchess of Northumberland (and film location for Harry Potter’s Hogwarts), is a popular visitor attraction, or visit Alnwick Gardens, a spectacular interpretation of a formal garden, including a grand cascade waterfall and poison garden, and guests can dine in the restaurant in the largest tree house in Europe!
There are stunning, golden sandy beaches in the pretty coastal villages of Embleton and Newton-by-the-Sea, only 5 miles away. The picture-postcard village of Alnmouth, with its wide expanse of golden sandy beach and variety of good restaurants, pubs, tea rooms and gift shops, is 8 miles. For golfing enthusiasts there are many local links and inland courses.
Just 10 miles north east is the seaside holiday village of Beadnell, which is popular with watersports enthusiasts. Visit Seahouses, a further 2 miles north, and take a boat trip to the Farne Islands to see the puffins at play. Bamburgh Castle is only another 3 miles up this stunning coastline.
