Converted from the old milking parlour this single-storey cottage has been comfortably furnished to provide a delightful holiday home just for two. Situated alongside Mark Close Farmhouse (Ref: 13314) it stands on the outskirts of the market town of Alston in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in the North Pennines. It is ideally located for exploring Cumbria’s Lake District, Northumberland and the border of Scotland including Hadrian’s Wall. Whichever direction you travel you will be astounded by the magnificent views. Excellent walking and Coast to Coast cycle route runs through Alston. Shops, pubs and restaurants 1 mile.

    Where do I begin. We arrived late through traffic and roadworks etc. What a welcome we had, there is everything there that you need at the cottage We had a lovely welcome pack from Emily and Alun, freshly laid eggs, chocolates, a nespresso machine and different jams and chutneys. The cottage itself is so clean and smells lovely. I nearly forgot to mention, the tennis ball and dog treats are a really nice touch. We used the hot tub quite often which was always checked twice a day. Our neighbours were the sheep in the next field. The bird feeder in the garden was fantastic as we certainly got to see some beautiful birds. At Dusk there are two lovely bats that you could watch for hours. This holiday was truly amazing from the hectic day jobs we have, this really was a welcoming surprise. We did visit a couple of the local places, I can recommend coffee and cake at the Alston Arms, or the Samosa's at the Spar/Deli. The landscape and views are breathtaking. We did visit Ullswater Lake it was a fabulous holiday throughout. Our two collies really enjoyed themselves. I would highly recommend this property, we will be returning at some point.
