Little Ponds is a detached house providing a very comfortable home from home from which to explore the beautiful Sussex countryside. Local pubs are within strolling distance should you be able to tear yourself away from the sauna and attractive terrace with summerhouse, which creates an ideal space for al fresco dining in the warmer weather. Walk or cycle along the Cuckoo Trail, or take a short car journey to the market town of Heathfield. There are so many places of interest close by, including Rudyard Kipling’s 17th-century, Jacobean home Bateman’s, near Burwash. Visit the Arts and Crafts House at Standen House and Gardens (NT) in East Grinstead, the Bluebell Steam Railway at Sheffield Park, and Sheffield Park Garden which has influences of landscape gardeners Capability Brown and Humphrey Repton. Royal Tunbridge Wells and Eastbourne are equidistant at approximately 16 miles. Glyndebourne and the South Downs National Park are approximately 20 minutes, or why not spend a day at the races at Brighton, then discover what goes into a pint of Harveys at their Brewery Tour in historical Lewes. Explore Pevensey Castle, Herstmonceux for its castle and Observatory Science Centre, and see the animals at Drusillas Zoo, as well as Hello Kitty Secret Garden and Thomas the Tank Engine! Golf is available locally, and 3½ miles away at Framfield Lake, you can go fishing for carp, roach and bream (£8 per day for a licence).
