This lovely, spacious, detached property is ideal for families or larger groups and is situated right on the edge of the Brecon Beacons National Park. It is a great location for adrenaline seekers, being close to Bike Park Wales in Merthyr Tydfil. For those with an interest in whisky and spirits, this property is within walking distance of the Penderyn Distillery, which produces award winning single malt. It is also a great property for those wanting to explore the Brecon Beacons, and Pen y Fan, the highest peak in the Brecon Beacons, is 15 minutes’ drive from the property. Just 1¾ miles from the property is Sgwd Yr Eira, a walk with four waterfalls, including a beautiful waterfall you can walk behind. The National Showcaves Centre for Wales is 9 miles from La Cala, and a great place for your children to run around is Garwnant Visitors Centre. Whatever you decide to do, this is a great property to come back to and have dinner together in the evening. Beach 24 miles. Shop, pub and restaurant ½ mile.

    It was perfectly okay but was set back 10 metres from a fairly main road. It was completely clean and very spacious - one huge open plan area with the kitchen and another separate large lounge. I'm kind of rating the overall experience though - when I messaged to get arrival details, the caretaker said they hadn't worked for the company for over a year. However, they were helpful and gave me the owner details and eventually I got the key code to get in - but all not ideal. The owner was living in Spain (I got the impression they live there a lot) and communication with them was patchy e.g. we couldn't light the hob the first night since the switch to switch it all on was behind a string of large garlics on the rhs of the oven. I tried phoning several times and got no help. They did reply the next day but I kind of feel if you're the owner, and there is no one local who is doing the guest welcome/arrival thing, you should be almost sitting waiting for your phone to ring to make sure your new customer is able to settle in properly. I used to be a landlord and I made sure I really looked after the tenants - and they appreciated it and looked after the house. It may be unfair but I got the impression of the owner living it up in sunny Spain while creaming in the cash from the house in Wales. Also, the description is accurate but what you might not notice is that there were no showers - just attachments in baths. This was 'ok' but not great. I realise I should have probably noticed but I am fairly sure I have never been in a house which doesn't have a shower for 20 years (whether mine, friends, holiday places etc.). Also, it did have the impression of being rather hastily 'got ready' e.g. several doors stuck when opening. Really all not that big a deal but when you are paying the kind of money we were in August, I really do expect top notch. Last thing - I really wanted to do all the recycling but the bags were either non-existent or not in the right place. It was also very confusing to know what to do with what. There were no receptables for the recycling to accumulate until a bag was full. And then for the outside bins, only one had a lid, so had to store stuff in the shed to stop foxes get at it. All just an annoying pain when you're wanting to have a relaxed holiday. I'm not sure I'd go back.
