Unwind and relax in the large, comfortable rooms after a day spent exploring the coast or inland glens. There are partial sea views from the high windows in the living area and master bedroom, with the other two bedrooms at the front of the property no less interesting. The rugged shoreline is only about 200 yards away along the harbour front, where you will often see lobster creels piled up. The village has a vibrant fishing heritage and in August the Johnshaven Fishing Festival attracts many visitors from around the country and abroad. Stalls selling local produce and music, along with dancing displays all feature in this popular annual event. The village has a good play area with bowling and tennis courts and south of the village there are wonderful beaches at St Cyrus and Montrose, just 7 miles away with a lovely stretch of sandy beach and a play area which is very popular with families.
Further afield, visit Aberdeen or Dundee, both within a 40-minute drive, and with much to offer both culturally and commercially. Aberdeen often has major concerts at the Press and Journal Arena, and Dundee attracts many visitors to its acclaimed Victoria and Albert Museum. Inland, take a drive through the rolling countryside of the Mearns and onto the Angus Glens through the Victorian Heritage Trail. Endless good walking can be enjoyed with plenty of wildlife to spot in this very scenic area. Beach 4 miles. Shop, pub and restaurant 300 yards.
