Nestled in the pretty Exmoor village of Winsford, Karslake House is a terraced cottage close to the owners home. Up past the ford and thatched pub, it makes an ideal base for those looking to enjoy a week of walking in the Exmoor National Park. Explore the varied, stunning landscape that this beautiful part of the country has to offer, or for those wanting to relax, enjoy the bliss and slower pace of rural village life. Internally, the house is very well-appointed with all the bedrooms having either en-suite facilities or a shower in the room. There is a charming living room with a woodburner and a good sized, well-equipped kitchen. There is also a lovely landscaped patio for guests to use.
A local shop and pub serving food are within easy walking distance, as well as a popular tea room. The property sits within the boundaries of Exmoor National Park, which offers great walking for all abilities, a wide range of wildlife including deer and the famous Exmoor ponies, and some superb places to visit including Withypool, Lanacre and Tarr Steps. The Exmoor town of Dulverton is worth a visit and has a good range of shops and restaurants. Looking towards the coast, there is the medieval town of Dunster with its castle (NT), and then on to Minehead, which also has a larger range of shops and amenities, as well as the West Somerset Railway and beach area. Other areas of interest close by are Porlock and Porlock Weir, and a little further along the coast are Lynton and Lynmouth, the two towns being connected by the Victorian cliff railway. Spend a day on the beach at Dunster or Blue Anchor. Shop and pub 100 yards.

The house was very quirky which we liked it was clean and well equipped. The owners lived next door and they were friendly, helpful and polite. The only observation I would make is if you have a dog the garden is a bit on the small side. I would definitely recommend it if you do not have a dog. I would definitely go back if we did not have the dog.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; Sorry that you found the garden small for your dog. We have had many guests stay with us with their dogs and have never had a comment on this before. Whilst the garden is not large, there are many beautiful walks to take your dog on locally. The moor of Winsford Hill is just at the top of the Lane, my own dogs are certainly not in need of a large garden once they have had their walk, they normally just curl up at my feet ready for a nap.
