Enclosed rear garden with sitting out area, firepit and BBQ. 1 large or 2 small dogs welcome, to be kept on a lead at all times (sheep country). Private parking for 2 cars. No smoking.

Hootsman is a quaint single storey cottage, which is sure to delight, with far reaching views over the countryside. The owners have lovingly furnished the property throughout, with beautiful local artwork adorning the walls, careful attention to detail as well as eco-friendly upcycled bespoke furnishings and furniture.

Stepping inside there are flagstone floors throughout, welcoming you with an authentic country feel. The open plan living area has eye catching bright units with oak worktops and a Belfast sink in the well-equipped kitchen. There is a dining table for two where you can enjoy home cooked meals together, and a sofa in front of the wood burner. This room is bathed in light, with glass patio doors looking out over the National Park. The double bedroom with a fabulous en-suite shower has been designed with your comfort in mind. You have your own private enclosed patio, complete with a seating area, BBQ and firepit. Perfect for both sunny days as well as star gazing evenings.

Hootsman is located on a working farm, where chickens roam free, and you can observe the resident goats who help to create a variety of fresh cheeses. There is a paddock and stables on site; you are welcome to bring your horse by prior arrangement with the owner at an additional cost. For those who love the great outdoors this is the ideal destination, with wonderful footpaths, cycle routes as well as bridal ways all radiating from your doorstep.

In the nearby village of Rosedale Abbey you will find a couple of pubs, cafés and a village shop. There is also a small pitch and putt golf course with a second larger golf course around a 15- minute drive away. Dalby Forest is well worth a visit and is also great for cycling, with cycle hire and other adventure activities including zip wiring through the treetops. During your stay be sure to visit Ampleforth Abbey with its serene Abbey Church and grounds to explore at your leisure. The cottage is also within easy reach of Pickering with its many attractions including The North York Moors Railway which goes to Whitby, where you can enjoy possibly the most famous fish and chips in the UK. You are only a 30-minute drive from the heritage coast.

    Lovely conversion with spectacular views across Rosedale Abbey . Owners were extremely friendly and informative. We even helped bottle feed the lambs . Will definitely be returning !
