Situated in a residential area close to the centre of the town of Clitheroe, Henthorn Place is a semi-detached property offering comfortable accommodation in one of the Ribble Valley’s best loved towns. With the added benefit of off road parking, you can take advantage of all the town’s amenities without having to worry about town centre traffic and parking. Downstairs is a cosy living room, well-equipped dining kitchen and cloakroom with toilet. Upstairs are three comfortable bedrooms and a family bathroom, and to the rear is an enclosed garden, ideal for alfresco dining in the summer months.
The charming market town of Clitheroe offers a great selection of individual boutiques and specialist shops, including the famous Cowman’s Sausage Shop which sells over 75 varieties, and the award-winning Byrnes Wine Shop, which has an underground cellar full of vintage wines. There are also several supermarkets for all the self-catering essentials, although many visitors will prefer to eat out as there are so many lovely restaurants, coffee shops, pubs, cafés and a brewery to choose from. Clitheroe is also home to a 12th-century Norman castle which towers over the town. Thought to be the smallest Norman castle in England, it is now home to a museum and gardens which include a children’s playground and skate park. There are events held in the grounds throughout the year and there are also several circular walks from the castle which will take you around the town and surrounding countryside.
Surrounded by stunning unspoilt countryside, Clitheroe is the perfect base from which to explore the Ribble Valley and Forest of Bowland Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Lovers of literature will enjoy a visit to nearby Stonyhurst College where both JRR Tolkien and Sir Arthur Conan Doyle spent time. You can also walk the ’Tolkien Trail’. Other places worth visiting within easy driving distance include Lancaster, Morecambe Bay and Blackpool, which are all within an hours drive, or accessible from Clitheroe train station which is within walking distance. You can drive to the Yorkshire Dales National Park in around 40 minutes, and even the Lake District is only just over an hour away, making Henthorn Place an ideal touring base. Shops, pubs and restaurants ½ mile.
