Headon Hall Estate has nearly 4 acres of land, and there is a 2-acre field (sloping) with picnic table available to guests for games, it also benefits from private parking on site. It has views over The Needles to Tennyson Monument and the purple heather-clad Headon Warren, and has a gate to the coastal path and direct access to the hillfort and Headon Warren 2 minutes away. Smugglers once used the caves around the bottom of the chalk cliffs that are exposed at low tide. If you wish to explore them it is best to find a local guide as you can become cut off by the tide. Kayaking is the ideal way to see them and the other small bays at Watcombe and Scratchells. Freshwater beach is popular for organised water sports. You will often see boats moored offshore as the passengers come ashore here.
Compton Bay Beach, the most unspoiled island beach, has a vast expanse of sands and is a hot spot for surfers, whilst also being great for families. It is under 10 minutes’ drive away, as is the yachting village of Yarmouth with its renowned fresh fish restaurant and numerous pubs and other restaurants. The Yar River runs from Freshwater Bay to Yarmouth, and has a scenic walk and cycle route along the causeway. Explore, relax and enjoy! Beach adjacent.
