Hawthorn Cottage is a charming, end of terrace stone built cottage, set in the centre of the popular village of Sleights. In the village there’s a great dog friendly pub, a convenience store and an award winning butchers and bakery. Just 3 miles from the seaside town of Whitby, it is ideally placed for exploring both the dramatic heritage coastline and the beautiful countryside of the North York Moors National Park. The warm and welcoming living room has a wood burner, original beams and an exposed stone flag floor with rugs. After dinner, put your feet up in front of the warm fire to watch a DVD or video (yes video), or play one of the retro board games. A door leads into the spacious, well equipped kitchen including an electric oven with ceramic hob, dishwasher and microwave. From here, step down into an additional reading room, housing a double sofa bed for flexible sleeping arrangements. Upstairs, the bedroom is tastefully furnished with a double bed, quality bedding and cushions ensuring a good night’s sleep. Wake up to a lovely cup of tea, made in the perfectly working teas-made! Outside, the attractive, enclosed courtyard to the rear enables you to sit and relax with a morning coffee, before heading off for a day exploring the locality. After your day, relax in the freestanding bath with complimentary bubble bath.

It is a real treat to see, hear and smell the iconic steam train puffing along from Whitby to Pickering on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway. Why not catch the steam train from Whitby to the market town of Pickering stopping off at Goathland, home to the fictional village Aidensfield in the TV programme ’Heartbeat’. Beach 4 miles.
