Tucked away in a quiet courtyard, just a few steps away from the centre of the pretty market town of Broughton-in-Furness you will find Griffin Cottage. This apartment is the ideal place to explore this old world charm and is perfectly situated for car-free evening dining, after days out exploring this picturesque area. This first and second floor apartment has wonderful character, with exposed beams in a cosy living room and a feature spiral staircase leading up to a stunning eaves bedroom with timber beams and wooden floor. The owners live next door and have added personal touches throughout to add even more comfort to your stay.
Broughton-in-Furness is well situated, just a few miles south west of nearby Coniston. Coniston and the wonderful surrounding fell ranges and lakes can be explored along with the nearby River Duddon, immortalised by Wordsworth as one of the most scenic rivers in England. Embraced by this beautiful countryside, Broughton is becoming increasingly popular due to being well located and not far from the busier towns of Ambleside and Windermere.
Broughton’s focal point is the Georgian market square with its obelisk erected in 1810 to commemorate the jubilee of King George III. Nearby old stone slabs can still be seen where traders laid out their wares, as can the stocks in which wrongdoers were punished. Bordering the square, the Tourist Information Office is adjacent to some charming restaurants, cafés and excellent traditional pubs, where a welcoming atmosphere, fine foods and real ales can be enjoyed. Delicious and traditional foods are available from the small friendly local shops and the bakers, and the butchers have deservedly been recommended by several of the country’s top chefs. Beach 8½ miles. Shops, pubs and restaurant 200 yards.
