This Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty provides access to footpaths and cycle routes, enabling you to explore the glorious, rural surroundings and enjoy horse riding and golf nearby. Fig Cottage is ideally located for exploring Canterbury, just 9 miles away, where the skyline is dominated by its historic cathedral and is the oldest in England. For a day at the coast, towns such as Whitstable famous for its oysters, Hythe’s pebble beach, and Sandgate with interesting antique shops, are all well worth a visit. There is easy access to the Eurostar and the Channel Tunnel for those looking for something further afield in France, so don’t forget to bring your passport! Something closer to home is the local pub, where it not only feeds the family after a day’s exploring, it also provides a venue for craft fairs and farmers’ markets, and won an award for ’Kent pub of the year’ in the Kent life awards. Beach 8 miles. Shop 2 miles, pub and restaurant ¼ mile.

The welcome was amazing. Local fresh eggs (from the hens on farm)bread, milk, jams, wines and Prosecco. Hester is a wonderful hostess. Fig cottage itself is stunning inside. Absolutely top quality. We had a wonderful break. Would definitely come again.

Fig Cottage has been the most delightful location for our holiday. Everything about it is of the highest quality and we really loved the welcome pack too.  Enjoyed our visit from Tigger, who is quite a cuddly cat and enjoys a bit of fussing over. The location is ideal to explore this part of the country whether you like local markets, exploring towns, castles or wildlife. Particularly enjoyed the WWII tunels at Dover Castle, the market at Faversham and exploring Canterbury. Can also recommend The Riverside Inn at Ashford if you are around that way.(The beef, mushroom and Stilton Pie was amazing). Many thanks.
