Welcome to Fergie’s Hut! Perfect for a romantic break in The Lake District, with your own private hot tub and unobstructed fell views, you’ll love the privacy and the feeling of escapism from the moment you arrive. Ever dreamed of staying in a traditional Cumbrian shepherd’s hut? Look no further! Fergie’s Hut is quaint, comfortable and has lots of cosy features which will make this stay a memorable one, like the little wood burner, which you can light if the night gets cool. Every detail in this quirky hideaway has been carefully thought through with guest comfort in mind, but without losing too much of the original charm that these huts provided to the shepherds while tending their valuable flocks in Victorian times and right into the 1950’s. Outside you have a BBQ and firepit to enjoy whilst sitting outside, and if that’s not warm enough for you, the showstopper must be the beautiful calming hot tub, set in a genuine, restored 1920’s farm cart shed, with views of the surrounding farmland and fells. Fergie’s Hut is a little different from many – it has a separate centrally heated ‘wash ‘n’ dry hub’ with en-suite and walk in shower, a hair drying station, and room for drying clothes and footwear.
Bewaldeth sits nestled away in the Northern Fells of the Lake District National Park. Ideal for visiting Cockermouth, Bassenthwaite and Keswick, and of course further afield, there are several country pubs within a few minutes’ drive serving local ales and traditional pub food. Being just a short 5-minute drive to Bassenthwaite, you’ll find Alpaca Trekking, the Lake District Wildlife Park, Armathwaite Hall which offers spa packages and afternoon tea, and The Lakes Distillery offering good food and tasting tours.
A 15-minute drive will take you to Cockermouth, the birthplace of William Wordsworth, - Wordsworth House and Gardens are fabulous - This pretty, vibrant town has many independent shops, several unique coffee shops, and great pubs. Lots to explore and enjoy! A drive to Keswick will take around 17 minutes, here you’ll find an abundance of bars, restaurants, shops, lots of outdoor adventure retailers, weekly market, and some of the most picturesque scenery around Derwentwater where you can hire a rowing boat or take in an evening performance at The Theatre by The Lake. The Cumbria West coast, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, with its expanse of beaches is around half an hour’s drive. And finally, we must of course mention plenty of walking and outdoor activity opportunities within easy reach!
