Eden House Holiday Cottage, steeped in history, is Grade II listed and offers traditional character and charm, and has been fully refurbished. The ground floor offers a lovely, cosy cottage living room with wood burner, perfect for the cooler evenings after a day exploring. There is a kitchen (newly fitted in 2018), with all the modern appliances. The kitchen opens into a spacious dining area and sun room with separate seating for relaxing, French doors leading to an outside patio which is a perfect sun spot in which to relax with a book and a glass of wine, enjoying the lovely views down the owner’s private walled gardens. On the first floor is the light and airy kingsize bedroom with cast iron bed, with a vaulted ceiling and a refurbished en-suite bathroom with a power shower over the bath.
Eden House Holiday Cottage is ideally situated in the historic market town of Pickering, the gateway to the North York Moors National Park. The bustling town centre is just a short stroll away with individual shops, cafés, restaurants, traditional pubs, an indoor market, and the famous North York Moors Railway, which runs between Pickering and Whitby. Pickering is a great base especially for walkers and cyclists. Nearby, Dalby Forest is the largest forest in the North York Moors area with excellent nature trails and over 44 miles of cycle and walking trails, from the very beginners to the challenging runs, so bring your bike along or hire one locally.
There is easy access to the coastal resorts with Whitby, Robin Hood’s Bay and Scarborough to name a few. Pickering even has its own castle and Beck Isle Museum, and hosts many events throughout the year, including the 1940s War Time Weekend in October. There are lots of quaint villages and towns within a short drive such as Thornton-le-Dale, Hutton-le-Hole, Rosedale, Kirbymoorside, Malton, Helmsley and Thirsk all with individual shops, cafés, traditional pubs, galleries, museums and historic buildings.
The vibrant, ancient city of York is just 26 miles away, and can be accessed by road, public transport or the Park and Ride. There are many historic houses, abbeys and museums nearby including Castle Howard, one of the UK’s finest stately homes. Also within easy access is Eden Camp Museum, Duncombe Park with its bird of prey centre, and Ryedale Folk Museum in Hutton-le-Hole.
There is private parking at the rear of the cottage so you can enjoy an amble through the owner’s private walled garden when returning at the end of a day out. Beach 18 miles. Shop and restaurant 50 yards, pub 300 yards.
