Lying peacefully down a quiet country lane between the bustling coastal resorts of Pendine and Amroth, these traditional Welsh barns (refs 29463, 30251, 30252, 30521 and 30522) have been restored to a very good standard and make a perfect touring base for couples or families looking for a seaside getaway. Situated on a small holding complex with a small farm shop on-site, the former barns dating back to the 18th century retain much of their original charm and character, with each room having comfortable furnishings and amenities for that unforgettable holiday experience. Coastal Wood Holidays received the highest accolade of ’Tourism Business of the Year’ as well as ’Best Self Catering Accommodation of the Year’ and ’Best Customer Service Award’ and was a finalist in the category for ’Best Dog Friendly Self Catering Holiday Accommodation’ at the Carmarthenshire Tourism Awards 2018/19.
Your four-legged friend will be just as happy with a dedicated 5-acre enclosed dog run field and lots of doggy extras. These properties are nestled between Amroth beach and Pendine Sands in the beautiful Pembrokeshire National Park, with 17 acres of natural grounds and woodland walks, which lead to the spectacular coastal path, where guests can discover the hidden Horseshoe Coves and unblemished tranquil beaches dotted along the coast. The charming village of Amroth is close by, posing a selection of traditional pubs, restaurants, cafes and a sandy beach. Just a stone’s throw away are the picturesque harbour towns of Saundersfoot and Tenby, offering an array of boutique gift shops, art galleries and restaurants with freshly caught fish always on the menu. Explore the off-shore island of Caldey and share the serenity and tranquillity of the Cistercian monks, or take a sea safari along the dramatic coast, cruising close to sea birds, seals and the occasional dolphin.
Away from the coast, the rolling countryside is just as promising with its array of traditional market towns dotted around the country including Narberth and Haverfordwest as well as the numerous enchanted sites including Pembroke and Carew Castles. Visit Oakwood, Folly Farm and Bluestone for action packed day out. Dairy Cottage (30523) and The Buttery (30522) have an interconnecting door and can be booked together to sleep 8. Shop, pub and restaurant 1 mile.

Our cottage was ideally placed for our daily drives to countryside and coast. Facilities for safely walking our dogs were spot on. It was one of our best holidays.

The Nook was larger than we expected and contained everything we need to enjoy a quiet week away with our dogs. Plenty of places to exercise them on site or on nearby Amroth beach. Both dogs loved lying in front of the pot bellied stove! We will definitely book again

Response on behalf of the owner; Thank you so much for your review of The Nook and for awarding your stay here full marks. The nearby beaches are excellent and great for pets. It's good to hear that you found The Nook larger than expected especially with the double height kitchen and dining area. We hope to see you again.

The bedroom is described as low but the photo is misleading as the beam is nearly at the foot of the bed and is 37inch high, the top of the bed is 19 inch high making you wriggle through 18 inch (I measured it) or crawl up the side of the bed. If you are tall you have to make the bed knelt down. And I'm agile. Had I have known all this I would not have booked.

Response on behalf of the owner; Thank you for your review of The Nook. We are so sorry you felt this cottage was not suitable for you. The Nook is our most popular cottage and as you can see from previous reviews we consistently score 9 or 10 from our guests. The Nook is described as having ‘sloping ceilings with low beams’. We feel the pictures and description of the bedroom is fair and truthful. Any queries before your booking would have been answered swiftly and honestly. We saw you several times during your holiday and you seemed completely satisfied with your stay, only expressing disapproval of the recent spell of wet weather. Each cottage has a feedback form which enables you to highlight any potential shortcomings, though this was not completed. We also sent you a follow up email to which you replied, but still no mention of any grievance with regards to the bedroom ceiling height. This review is the first time we were made aware of any sign that your cottage did not meet your needs. As we were not informed before, during or after your stay then we are now unable to try to rectify any issue. If we had known you were unhappy, we would have tried to arrange an alternative. Every guests holiday experience is important to us. We appreciate you awarded us full marks for ‘cleanliness’, we did our utmost to cater for your many allergies. With regards to your other ratings, this is the first time we have ever had a low mark for ‘comfort and equipment’. We offer an extensive range of complimentary extras as well as high quality bedding and furnishings. The ‘location’ was chosen by you, and many of our guests love this area with award winning beaches close by, Tenby is a short drive around the bay and there are some fantastic pubs in the nearby seafront village of Amroth. We are proud that we were recently awarded the ‘Best Self Catering Accommodation’, ‘Best Tourism Business’ and ‘Best Customer Service’ in the Carmarthenshire Tourism Awards 2018. It was a shame we were not given the opportunity to rectify your grievance. We would love you to return, stay in another cottage and fully experience what a wonderful part of the world this area is.
