Situated at the heart of the Snowdonia National Park, this cosy retreat has a warming wood burner in the living room to relax in front of with a glass of wine, and a lovely light sun lounge, which is a favourite place for guests to read and simply chill. This beamed cottage has all you need for a comfortable and relaxing break, not least the enclosed south facing garden for summer barbecues. The friendly village of Dolwyddelan has a pub, hotel, local village shop, an historic 14th century church and even a 13th century castle, which was the birthplace of Prince Llywelyn – all within walking distance, and you can also pull on your walking boots and explore the peaceful hidden valley of Cwm Penamnen following the waymarked trails. If you want to leave the car at home, why not hop on the train and take a scenic journey on the Conwy Valley line to Llandudno from the local station? Five miles away, Blaenau Ffestiniog is now a thrill seekers delight attracting visitors from all over the world with the amazing Zip World Titan, the world’s largest zip wire zone where you can soar over an old slate quarry, and Bounce Below, where you can bounce on trampoline nets deep in an underground slate cavern. If you’re after something a bit more relaxing, then take a steam train trip on the Ffestiniog Railway on the spectacular journey from Blaenau Ffestiniog down to the coast at Porthmadog (they’ll even serve refreshments at your seat!). The pretty village of Betws-y-Coed, 5 miles, is also well worth a visit, with its individual shops, leafy forest walks, and the amazing Fforest Coaster at Zip World Fforest! You may even catch a local Welsh male voice choir performing in St Mary’s Church on Sunday evenings during the summer months.
