Bordering England and South Wales and the three counties of Gloucestershire, Herefordshire and Monmouthshire, there is much to do and see, with such variety its sure to have something for everyone.

The Forest of Dean is a magical place in all seasons and has outdoor activities in abundance, such as mountain biking, cycle tracks for all abilities, kayaking, canoeing, climbing, horse riding and for the less energetic relaxing walks amongst wildlife, flora and fauna. Puzzlewood, which has been used as a film location in Dr Who, Star Wars and Merlin, and Go Ape with its zip wires and climbing adventures are popular attractions. Historical interests include the castles at Raglan, Goodrich, Chepstow and Caldicott, and Hereford Cathedral with its Mappa Mundi Centre. Chepstow Racecourse is within an easy drive. Enjoy the local pubs and restaurants, and an award-winning pub in Newland is just a short walk away. There are many markets and festivals in the surrounding areas to explore. We booked this specifically as it was advertised as dog friendly. On arrival told that dogs not allowed upstairs or on furniture. This should be on the property details upfront I feel. Gill the owner also advised us when we came back from 2 hours trip having left our whippet in the cottage for that time that she had barked so shouldn’t be left. My whippet doesn’t have separation anxiety so was probably replying to the owners black lab who barks a lot.. At over £500 for 3 nights this ‘dog friendly’ cottage did not give us the home from home we had expected and so was a disappointment. The cottage itself was very nice and there are gorgeous walks in the area. If you do book then bring your own toiletries (including hand soap/toilet roll etc) as none provided.
