Cowes is home to the oldest and biggest sailing regatta in the world, and is the number one destination for sailors during the summer months. However it also boasts a rich wealth of history and culture, with its ’twin’ East Cowes just across the Medina Estuary by chain ferry. Here you can visit Osborne House, holiday home to Queen Victoria and Prince Albert. Cowes is a beautiful coastal town, with many bars, restaurants and boutique shops, and there is a boat link here from Southampton, meaning no need for a car should you not want to. The Isle of Wight has lots of must-see attractions, including Blackgang Chine, the UK’s oldest amusement park, and The Needles, the island’s iconic landmark attraction.
