Bayview enjoys a peaceful setting at the northern end of stunning island of Sanday. This lovely detached cottage for two has been renovated and furnished to a very good standard to ensure as comfortable and relaxing holiday as possible. Set on a narrow slip of land with a sea water loch to the front and a lovely beach to the rear, Bayview has an enviable position rarely found in the UK. Sanday, is the largest of the northerly Orkney Isles, appropriately named as it is mostly made up of swathes of white sandy beaches with turquoise waters and many sand dunes. The stunning and unspoilt coastline around the island must be viewed to be believed – all that is missing are the palm trees. Adding to the appeal of Sanday are the many impressive archaeological sites uncovered over the years including brochs and burial mounds, with one of the most significant discoveries being a Viking boat burial complete with skeletons. The island is also home to a very distinctive striped lighthouse designed and built by Thomas Smith assisted Robert Stevenson back in 1807. Situated on the edge of Lady Village you will find Heritage Visitor Centre which holds a wealth of fascinating information going back many generations of island residents. Beside this is The Croft, a small house recreated to show family life many years ago. Sanday has a rich natural habitat and is home to many species of birds and wildlife making it a wildlife enthusiasts paradise. A holiday to Sanday will be a unique and unforgettable experience where many happy memories will be made and enjoyed. Beach 10 yards. Shop 2½ miles, pub and restaurant 4 miles.

A beautiful holiday cottage in a wonderful location. Bayview has been renovated to a very high standard and has been decorated and furnished with style and taste. It is very comfortable and very well equipped. The owners have thought of everything. They even provided home cooked dinners in the freezer for guests to purchase as the dining-out opportunities on Sanday are rather limited. They also make dogs very welcome. There was a lovely collection of food from the island to welcome us - fresh free-range eggs, Orkney butter, homemade jam and shortbread and a local loaf. There were even treats for the dogs, dog bowls and towels and dog toys. We had a wonderful relaxing time in this comfortable cottage. The location is quite unique - between the sea and a loch and it's very quiet. The ideal place to get away from it all. We didn't want to leave and we certainly want to return!
