Battan Forest Cottage is tucked away in the woods amongst a small cluster of cottages. It’s a lovely peaceful location and the cottage sits detached in a large, mature garden with only a few neighbours nearby. Perfect for couples, Battan Forest Cottage is a lovely romantic getaway. The living room has a huge wood burner. The garden is huge and wraps around the property - being fully enclosed means it’s brilliant for dogs. The only thing to keep an eye on is the pond in the back part of the garden which isn’t fenced. The accommodation is very spacious having originally been a three bedroom cottage. Now it has one large double bedroom with a super king four poster bed and views to the back and front gardens. The living/dining room is a great space and there’s access to the front and back gardens. The kitchen has everything you will need to cook up a storm during your stay. And there’s a spacious bathroom with shower over bath.

You can stay at Battan Forest Cottage for the entirety of your holiday and not go anywhere, it’s that peaceful and rejuvenating a spot. However, there are many places to see and visit near and far. Battan Forest is equidistant between Loch Ness and the Beauly Firth, so you can quickly get across to the Loch and the Great Glen to explore as well as head north via Beauly to the Black Isle and wherever you fancy along the NC500. Inverness is only twenty minutes’ drive away too, so you’re out in the wilds but at the same time not! It’s a great combination, the best of both worlds if you will for a Highland holiday. We urge you to book now and look forward to a great stay at Battan Forest Cottage. It’s not often you get the chance to book a cottage for two with so many great features included.

Please note we would have given this a zero but it wasn’t an option. This was rated as 4 stars and was highly priced. We read the site description and reviews prior to booking. We did note that in the weeks from booking to entry, that other people left complaints which hadn’t been addressed by next clients visit . From first contact with the owner to gain entry , only to find she was on holiday touring Europe and had to wait for her to get back to us! Finally got to the cottage, and it was a wreck! First impressions were of the overgrown weed filled garden and non maintained and bleached decking to the car and discarded (I’m assuming broken) hot tub and gas barbecue and council gritting bin all in the garden . There was so many things wrong with this cottage. The exterior was neglected and dangerous at points…rotting shed basically being held up due to being stuffed with contents. Visible through he missing slats. The rear decking was accessible via a patio door via an old pallet covered with astroturf as a step. The whole decking covered with chicken wire so dangerous to humans and dogs. There were 2 folding nylon chairs and a very old garden table, non of which were actually useable. Ramshackle decking and unkempt gardens aside, the interior was worse. Broken and mouldy stained drawers , water marked and mouldy dining chairs. The whole of the kitchen had been poorly painted over in something similar to chalkboard paint…including laminated units and tiles….which was all peeling and blistered. Integrated fridge freezer, which not only had no interior door fittings but also wasn’t attached to the unit door and had to be prised open each time. Mis matched and broken dishes, dirty cups and utensils etc were minor when compared to the worktops. These had been beautiful, solid wooden butcher block style worktops once upon a time….now there was not one work surface not covered in stains , mostly red wine by the looks of it. Cup marks and burn marks from pots and pans. The list goes on, including…Broken sink. Broken toilet seat . Broken bathroom light. One third of a toilet roll…classy. No cleaning materials for bathroom. (Please bear in mind this “cottage” is minimum 10 miles to a shop and entry is after 4pm. ) broken glass door in log fire meant even if there was kindling etc we couldn’t have used it. To be honest the list goes on and on..and on… We have used this company before and had an idea of what constituted their 4 star rating. This rental was obviously taken on photographic face value only .( which was night and day compared to the reality! A great staging job had been done for those photographs) An absolute disgraceful disappointment of a venue and completely ruined our holiday. We booked and paid for a week and left on the 4th day as we were avoiding returning to the cottage every day.

    Response from:

On Behalf Of The Owner: I'm so sorry to hear your time at the cottage was so awful but I'd like to say all points have been taken in to consideration and addressed ! Excuse the 4* rating this was not my doing but as I say all had been rectified as we're just starting off also, so sorry you were advised to contact myself as the caretaker is there for the details. It's a new cottage now and again I'm so sorry your stay was that bad
