It stands just back from the road with easy road links to historic Winchester or the charming town of Petersfield. There are some lovely scenic walks in the area, being located in the South Downs National Park and The Meon Valley - which is also well known for its fly fishing. There are various golf clubs in the area and beaches at Hayling Island, which is approximately half an hours drive away and is known for its surfing, or slightly further afield are the golden sandy beaches at The Witterings.
Petersfield with its various shops, tea rooms and eateries, is about 4 miles away and also has a fast train to London/Portsmouth or Chichester. The picturesque villages of West Meon, which was the home of the cricketer Thomas Lord and East Meon with its pretty church and pubs, are nearby. This is an ideal base for visiting attractions suitable for all ages. For racing enthusiasts, Goodwood is great for motor or horse racing, and also Fontwell Races, both within easy driving distance. The cathedral cities of Chichester, Salisbury and Winchester, The New Forest and Beaulieu Motor Museum are all within easy reach. Portsmouth with its historic ships, Spinnaker Tower, Gunwharf Quays and ferry trips to the Isle of Wight all make for great days out. Southampton with shopping retails outlets, waterside dining and maritime history is 27 miles away. There is so much to do in this beautiful county such as a visit to Jane Austens House, Gilbert White’s House, Watercress Line steam railway, Marwell Zoo, Paultons Park with Peppa Pig World, Queen Elizabeth Country Park, Uppark, Weald and Dowland Museum and Chichester Festival Theatre. There is sailing at Bosham or Chichester harbour, Warsash and Hamble. Beach 22 miles. Shop 1 mile, pub and restaurant ½ mile.
