Located less than 10 minutes away from the picturesque coastline, this delightful, detached barn is great for couples - whether it be for a full week’s holiday or a short break. Badgers Sett Brook is also dog friendly, making it the perfect base to explore all that the south-western side of the Isle of Wight has to offer with your four-legged friend.
Brook Bay can be found moments away on the unspoiled south west coast of the island. The beach is made up of golden sands, and is great for many activities, from cricket on the beach, to kite and wind-surfing for the more adventurous. One of the beach’s more unique features is the fossilised forest of huge trees which appears from beneath the waves at Hanover Point at low tide, it’s definitely worthwhile booking a tour on the beach to see the dinosaur footprints in the sandstone ledge.
The island has become a real hot spot for cycling enthusiasts with a choice of challenging off road bridleways, peaceful byways and level purpose-made tracks running along its former railway lines. Cycle to the famous Needles landmark or take on the full round the island route, which is 66 miles long and is used for the annual Isle of Wight Randonnee. You can also travel along the route at a more leisurely pace and along the way you will find numerous restaurants, pubs and cafés amongst the quaint villages and towns serving tasty local produce. Beach ½ mile. Shop and restaurant 2½ miles, pub ¾ mile.

Fantastic place to stay, close to beach and amazing cliff top walks. Nearby pub a 20 minute walk away serves good food and is dog friendly.

We feel that having stayed at other cottage Bagels set was expensive. The kitchen area was so small that you could not stand plates up to drain no work tops. There was a very large 3 seater sofa bed that was very uncomfortable to sit on and took up so much room. The TV had only 4 channels and kept losing signal. The place is not dog friendly as you could not let dog out in garden as there were no fencing and no grass the garden furniture you could not sit on. When leaving the cottage in car I had to get out cross the road and wave when it was safe to drive out. When sitting at the bench to eat you felt like you were back at school looking at a blank wall. I would use welcome email cottages again but would want more information about the place as it was a bad experience for us and our dog who was not allowed on chairs on bed but there was no place he could go.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; Thank you for taking the time to leave a review We are sorry that you felt Badgers Set was not good value for money, however we have never had anyone mention this before, everyone who has stayed has said how well appointed and well equipped the cottage is. We were extremely saddened to see your score of 3 for cleanliness as we take great pride in keeping the property in pristine condition. There is a drainer attached to the sink, as shown in the photos, with space for plates. and the work tops are adequate for the size of the kitchen. The sofa bed is supplied for alternative sleeping arrangements as some of our guests struggle with stairs. The TV is a smart TV with built in Freeview & there is access to Netflix etc., if you had your own account and if you had mentioned the loss of signal during your stay, we could have resolved the issue. The garden is not advertised as enclosed, and is being constantly improved on this fairly new property, however, there is a courtyard with patio & new garden furniture which is specifically designed for outdoor use. The property is in a rural location, and as such care is always a must when accessing a busy road in summer. The dining table opens to a larger size and there was an extra chair in the cupboard by the stairs, if you had preferred to sit separately. The rules for pets apply to all properties supplied by as stated in the terms and conditions of your booking, “Pets - Pets are not allowed unless we say so in the brochure/website. If you take a pet with you, it is not allowed upstairs, on beds or furniture, or in any shared facilities, such as swimming pools or shops. You must not leave any pets unattended in the property, including any garden, and you must keep dogs on a lead within the boundaries of a property (including the garden).”

Ideal location for a short weekend break, come out of the door walk for no more than a couple of minutes before you see the sea! Any additional comments would purely be suggestions as we couldn't really fault anything. Making a bit more of the outside space, perhaps a bbq would be a nice addition - and inside a slightly more comfortable couch. But these are purely suggestions. The welcome bottle of wine was much appreciated and we would definitely look at booking again. :-)

The cottage is well appointed and equipped, and in pleasant surroundings. The owners were away when we stayed so there were no access problems - the shared drive is not the largest. The only other slightly negative comment is that the mezzanine bedroom is a touch tight for space, especially on the "window side".
