  1. A beautiful location where you can enjoy a bit of solitude or engage with the owners who are helpful and just let you get on with the sort of stay you want. We loved the open space and the animals. The welcome gifts are legendary by the look of the guest book and we found them delicious and a real welcome that started the holiday with a great feeling. The house is self sufficient and all the safety features we needed for the baby were supplied and of a good quality. If I would change anything I would ask for a washing machine but to be honest only needed if you have young children. I am sure the owners would assist if we had asked and they sent on some clothes we had left which they had washed and ironed for us! A really great stay and I would recommend it to anyone.   13. Rooms were a lovely size for a cottage, we did not feel on top of each other. Lots of storage, inside and out, and secure. Excellent quality of stables and grazing. With regard to equipment and furnishings, you did not want for anything, very thoughtfully equipped. The only comment to the owner was because of our outdoor pursuits we would have preferred a washing machine rather than a dishwasher. But we were there for 2 weeks which I suspect is not the norm.   15. We had a wonderful time at Keepers cottage. Although we were lucky with the weather one day and had a fantastic walk on the beach at Holkham it wasn’t so kind on other days, but that didn’t matter because we had a fabulous log fire to keep us cosy indoors! March 2009.

  1. We stayed at Bay House for my fathers 60th birthday as a family. The house was so comfortable and had a really homely feel to it. We all immediately relaxed to the environment and settled in quickly. There was a lot of entertainment available such as games, music and films which was great due to the poor weather conditions during the stay. Some of the interior was a little dated however this was not an issue for any members of the family - if anything we all commented how homely this actually made it. Location wise the cottage was perfect - it had the most amazing restaurant immediately opposite and was easy to drive to coastal locations. Little touches left by the caretakers was also lovely (welcoming tea tray,biscuits, chocolates, milk and juice), and also the lovely letter to introduce us to the cottage. I also left a pair of shoes there by mistake, these were posted on to me at home speedily and without request (thank you Carol). We couldn’t have chose a more welcoming, friendly cottage and would certainly go back. July 2012.
  2. Well located for access to all natural history/birdwatching sites in North Norfolk. Is also located opposite a very good pub/restaurant which serves good food at reasonable prices. March 2012.
  3. The caretakers had made a real effort to make the cottage special for the children, such as putting cuddly toys around. We loved all the toys and games provided too. It was a lovely touch to have a basket of chocs for us on arrival, and tea/coffee and biscuits.   1. The accommodation was excellent, it was very clean and comfortable and even thou people had stayed there with their dogs it showed no sign, the views was lovely and there was was time to go on relaxing walks and the use of a indoor pool for one hour a day, in hall it was a very relaxing holiday and would highly recommend it to anyway to go their. Sept 2012.
  2. The Cabin was excellent, a nice warm welcome from the owner, cake, tea and milk on the dining table on our arrival - a very nice touch! The hour per day private use of the swimming pool was superb for me and the kids to have fun without having to worry about other swimmers. There’s a lovely little woodland walk within the grounds that our dog loved each morning. There are 2 supermarkets within a 5 minute drive which is very convenient. Holkham beach was a little gem and about 25 mins drive away - from the car park you’d expect the beach to be packed but it looked virtually deserted so we could happily let the dog off the lead without too many worries and the sea was actually quite warm! All in all a great place to stay and the surrounding area is lovely too. Aug 2011.

  4. The accommodation was perfectly suited to explore the whole of the Norfolk area. It was set in idylic surroundings and Jean, the owner was extremely accommodating - even baking us a cake for us to have with a cup of tea on our arrival. May 2011.
  5. This is the first time my feet have touched the floor since we returned home and I wanted to say we had the most wonderful time at the cabin. The whole holiday exceeded our expectations - the accommodation, the weather, Norfolk itself - and we will definitely recommend Scarning Dale to family and friends. The cabin is perfect for a family of 4 and it felt like a home from home. Your easiness at accommodating our requests only added to the perfect week. I’m only sorry the girls didnt get to use the pool as much as I thought they would but with such wonderful surroundings it was difficult to drag ourselves back each day. Norfolk and Scarning Dale are hidden gems in my opinion and I wish you continued success with your business. Although we dont often visit the same place twice because there is so much of the world to see, I wouldnt be surprised if you see us again at some point in the future. Nothing was too much bother to the owner and every thing including a sponge cake and cup of tea was at the ready to welcome us. We have recommended it to our friends and would go again.   2. A really lovely house in a beautifully peaceful location. The rooms are all very spacious and comfortable. Although near the sea, we hardly needed to leave the house - pool, tennis court and snooker table were enough to occupy all age groups from pensioners to pre-school age.   7. This trip was our fourth stay and I think that may say it all! The bungalow always smells fresh, it is clean, the kitchen is well equipped and it has everything that we need for holiday. It is well placed for visits to all the birding hotspots, Snettisham, Hunstanton, Holme, Holkham, Wells and Cley, not to mention the garden plus it is well located for NT properties, North Norfolk Heritage Railway, WWT Welney and Pensthorpe.   2. A really relaxing retreat. Comfortable, spacious accommodation with large garden leading down to river at the bottom, from where various wildlife could be seen and good fishing to be had. A friendly welcome from Maureen, the caretaker, who lives opposite. Would definitely go back! Sept 2011.
  3. This is fantastic if you want a relaxed laidback, property with access to the river, if fishing is your thing, and what fishing, plenty of variety, tench, roach, bream and perch. If you want walking their are numerous places, and bird life is fantastic, from Cley nesxt the Sea, to Blakeney where you can go on one of the boats and see the local seals, (good for kids to go crabbing) And lastly must mention Cookies Crab shack in Salhouse, fantastic seafood and plenty of it.   14. The property was in a perfect location and the surroundings were beautiful, it may be useful to add that there are horses in the fields if any parties are taking dogs. We took 2 well behaved dogs and had no problems but the wall at the bottom of the garden is very low and easy for them to get over into the fields with the horses. For me it was so perfect and i didn’t want to leave, we shall be going back there next year!! Sept 2009.
  15. The owner made us very welcome with fresh eggs from his own chickens, wine and coffee. The house is charming and unusual and so convenient. We loved the privacy and quiet and would definitely recommend it to large families who like space to spread out. Really good value for money compared to a lot of other properties we have used. Very spacious and interesting property in very private and peaceful surroundings. We loved the wildlife and quiet. Very handy for all Norfolk/Suffolk sights and only 5 minutes to plenty of shops/ supermarkets. The bedrooms and receptions and kitchen were nicely laid out and equipped, plenty of space for everyone to do their thing without getting in each others way! Aug 2009.

  3. I love this property it is ideal for the disabled who do not need a hoist. However if you use a bed lever, take one with you: the bed is not of the divan type so a simple slot under bed lever works well. Access is easy even for a larger wheelchair or rollator. New this year is the key safe, this is fairly simple to operate and I am tempted to have one fitted at home for my carers. The location is just perfect if you love the sea. Take a pair of high powered binoculars, we spend many happy hours looking at the shipping. The conservatory is a wonderful bonus: it is heated and even in February is a great place to sit and just watch the sea. In better weather the garden furniture is very comfortable and sturdy. My dog and I love sitting my the coastal footpath watching the sea and the fishermen on the beach. Truly one of the best coastal properties in Norfolk if not the east coast. Feb 2012.

  7. Excellent holiday cottage, couldn’t wish for any better. Spotlessly clean and tidy. Lovely meals in Lighthouse Inn and Muckleburgh Military museum worth a day out. July 2011.
  8. The wet area in the large bathroom is excellent: it has a seat fixed to the wall, my wife was sceptical about this at first, however it worked very well. The whole property has plenty of room for a wheelchair user (no hoists though) and he/she would need to sit at the kitchen end of the dining table. Access for wheelchair users to the property is excellent - there is a small height threshold at the door from the sitting room to the conservatory and also to the garden. The door from the kitchen to the conservatory has quite a high threshold and not really suitable for a wheelchair (unless it’s a sporting one!) My wife had no problems using a rollator over the grassed area to the seaward fence and gate. My wife, daughter, granddaughter, dog and I enjoyed ourselves so much we have booked for a week in February (wife’s birthday) and 2 weeks in July/August. July 2011.
