  10. Overall the accommodation was excellent. The owners and caretakers of the property had left everything that you could wish for. There were self-made brochure and information books which included ideal places to stay in the area and in other parts of Cornwall. With this, we went somewhere lovely each day of our holiday. The cottage was clean, and fully equipped and in such a lovely area of Cornwall with plenty to door just on the doorstep. Sept 2009.

  1. The site and restaurant were very good and staff exstremely friendly and helpful but gaining access to the site was a bit tight down a narrow lane dodgy in the dark if you meet something coming the other way. June 2012.
  2. We booked this bungalow/cottage for a weekend trip to Cornwall to go to the Eden Project. It was a last minute thing but what a find. Good location for exploring most of Cornwall (might be a little East for Lands End maybe), handy little on-site pub/restaurant, clean and comfortable bungalow and handy parking space. Other than the slightly narrow access road (however this is normal for Cornwall), I cannot think of anything that is not great about this property (or indeed the Holiday Village it is in). We will certainly be back. July 2011.
  3. The property overall was clean and quiet, it had everything you needed in a chalet. The village inn on site was an added extra that did excellent meals. The bar staff and site superviser were very friendly. June 2011.

  7. An excellent location from which to explore the area - too many things within a 30 minute drive to do in just one week - we will go back. Don’t miss the Sterts Theatre we saw an excellent production of Children of Eden. Other highlights were Morwellham victorian village, Hidden Valley theme park - based on the Crystal Maze, and Polperro fishing village. Good living space for 4 people although the master bedroom was a bit small - barely room to walk around the bed. Otherwise we were impressed with the standard of accommodation. Aug 2009.

  1. A very well-presented holiday apartment - with some lovely welcoming touches, e.g. Cream Tea on arrival! Located within minutes of the Eden Project, Mevagissey and The Lost Gardens of Heligan. Recommended. July 2012.
  2. After turning up in pouring rain, the welcome of Cornish cream tea and flowers on the table was the real lift to the start of holiday. Apartment had everything we needed and location was so peaceful with lots of wild bird and squirrel activity. Area lovely, local pub great and the local walk provided very good too. We would love to come back in better weather. Despite weather we didnt once think of going home early, we were so comfortable. June 2012.

  1. A good location for visiting Eden and Lost Gardens of Heligan. The property was fine with parking around the corner. Sept 2011.
  2. Very comfortable property a little way out of St. Austell but well suited for four people with one double and one twin bedroom. Well positioned for touring around Cornwall with good access to main road out of St Austell. Can get to most places within 1 hour 15 minutes including Lands End. Quiet location with a nice view of the bay from the main bedroom. Well equipped kitchen with everything required for cooking. Parking space available but a little bit tight on access, perfectly adequate. Car would really be essential as it is a bit of a way out and returning from St. Austell would be uphill! St. Austell really did not offer too much, but there a really nice places only just 10 minutes away. Terraced garden a little bit small for anything other than a sit around the patio table. Sat Navs are not good for this location and it would be better described as being beyond Lewis Way which is shown on all Sat Navs. Overall a very nice property which I would be happy to holiday in again.   3. We have just returned from a family holiday (9 adults) at Barnacott Cottage between Bude and Kilkhampton. We all agreed that this is a hidden gem, full of rustic charm and character. This has to be one of the most spacious cottages available with two separate lounges each with large character fireplaces and wooden beams plus a breakfast room/third sitting area overlooking the large beautifully well maintained mature garden. There is everything, and more, that you could ever need in this cottage and none of us wanted to leave. If you find the weather is not always on your side there is so much space inside the cottage for you all to chill out. The cottage is ideally situated with Bude (4m), Clovelly (13m), Boscastle (18m), Tintagel(22m), Port Isaac (28m), Padstow (38m) and many more places of interest all within easy driving distance. In Kilkhampton (1.5m) there are two pubs, We ate at both pubs during our stay and found the The New Inn (The Local) served excellent good value food. There is also a ‘Chippy’ (Gilletts) which sold lovely large portions of fish and chips etc at very affordable prices. Our accommodation surpassed our expectations, which is a very rare commodity these days and the owners, the owners are a lovely couple who fully deserve to do well on this new venture and we wish them both every success in the future. We would also like to take this opportunity to thank them for the lovely home made sponge which we enjoyed during our stay. The American tourists would love the abundant amount of character in Barnacott Cottage as would golf enthusiasts. Ivy Leaf Golf Course (2m) is a lovely challenging hilly course and Bude & North Cornwall Golf Club (4m) is the local Links course. For lovers of fresh farm produce there is a great Farm shop (Killock Farm Shop) within 250 metres from the cottage which sells local and home-grown vegetables, meat and fish, and the bakery makes bread and wonderful cakes, pasties, flans and pies, in addition to locally made jams and chutneys. If any potential visitor is concerned about the cottage being located on the A39 or behind the curtain & fabric shop, please relax as the walls in Barnacott Cottage are 22" thick and whether you are relaxing inside the cottage or out in the beautiful garden you don’t even notice the road is there. The small shop is owned and run by Mrs. Quartermain and serves the local community and Barnacott Cottage is full of different curtains and fabrics from the shop. We loved our week long stay here and would thoroughly recommend this cottage to anyone looking to spend a relaxing holiday in North Cornwall and we just wish we could take Barnacott Cottage with us whenever and wherever we travel around the UK.   1. Make the most of the coast path and other footpaths. We found a wonderful sculpture park not too far away. March 2012.
  2. We came out of season and there was an issue with heating but how could you complain with a private beach (de facto) fifty feet away which the dogs loved. This is a Daphne du Maurier location for those who wish to escape and the owners have an integral responsibility to their tenants. I left a lap top there and at her own expense the owner returned it. Great for people with dogs. Wonderful views. You feel completely removed from day to day life. Excellent. Jan 2012.

The only thing I might suggest is that there are more suggestions for places to eat... didn’t find "the Paris" up to scratch as far as food was concerned. But all in all a VERY enjoyable holiday.
