  1. This was a delightful cottage, full of interest and quirks. We were left wondering about the family who owned it as there all sort of fascinating clues and it seemed a well loved family home. The views were stupedous and altogether the accommodation just what we needed. Oct 2011.

  4. Waingap is the ultimate rental cottage. So more than the description implies. The owners clearly love the cottage and have spent lots of time there. The views are fabulous and there is lots to explore even before you leave the house. Great location for walks. April 2011.

The cottage is in a superb location surrounded by its own land (used for grazing by local farmers) so if you want seclusion you’ve got it....if you want to walk to the pub for a drink before supper etc...this is not the place for you.If the weather is good (which it wasnt for us) you can sit in the garden at the table and look out over rolling countyside...fabulous!   13. Reception on TV states in brochure it is bad but actually no problems. Also has a dishwasher which is not mentioned and a games room and slide/swing in the garden. Sept 2006.

  15. We had a wonderful time; Waingap far exceeded our expectations, particularly in terms of the beautiful location. We found the property particularly baby friendly - important as we have 1 year old twins. Thank you for a wonderful break. July 2006.

    This charming, detached holiday home surrounded by its own land enjoys stupendous views towards Morecambe Bay. Set in beautiful walking country near the Dales Way, the footpaths, bridleways and walled lanes provide walks directly from the house. Centrally placed for touring, with many historic buildings close at hand including Sizergh Castle, Levens Hall and Gardens, Holker Hall and Motor Museum, plus the 12th century priory at Cartmel. Lake Windermere, surrounded by exciting visitor attractions such as the Aquarium of the Lakes, Lakeside to Haverthwaite Steam Railway and the Brockhole Visitor Centre, plus the towns of Bowness and Windermere are all within 20-30 minutes’ drive. The market town of Kendal (6 miles) has a castle, leisure centre, riverside walks and excellent variety of shops and restaurants. The high fells of Central Lakeland and the beautiful lakes of Coniston Water, Ullswater and Derwent Water can be reached in about 40 minutes for climbing and scrambling or simply to enjoy the magnificent scenery.
