Accommodation description

Set in the peaceful village of North Somercotes on the Lincolnshire coast between Mablethorpe and Cleethorpes, this detached bungalow, built in the early 1800’s and situated close to the owner’s home, offers an ideal location for a relaxing holiday or a comfortable base from which to explore the area. North Somercotes is one of the larger villages in the area and has several shops, takeaways, two pubs, a licensed restaurant, hairdressers and beauty facilities. The village is 15 miles south of Cleethorpes, a popular holiday resort including the theme park Pleasure Island, the Cleethorpes Coast Light Railway and other attractions. It is also only 8 miles from the Georgian town of Louth which still boasts 3 markets a week, with the very impressive St James Church, Hubbards Hills picnic area and beauty spot, as well as a cinema, leisure centre and many excellent restaurants and pubs. Mablethorpe, 10 miles, has sandy beaches along with all your normal seaside attractions including a fun fair and amusements. Grimsby has a Fishing Heritage Centre, as well as very good shopping facilities. Donna Nook Seal Sanctuary is within 2 miles, and from late October to late December, seals congregate to have their vast numbers of pups here. Seals are very close to the public viewing areas, making Donna Nook one of the most accessible sites for seeing seals breeding in the UK. It attracts 40,000 visitors a year. Also worth a visit is the Saltfleetby-Theddlethorpe Dunes National Nature Reserve, a bird lovers’ and walkers’ paradise which can be easily reached from the property. Good walks and cycle routes from the door, with golf courses all within a short drive. A private fishing lake is just 1 mile away which guests can use (at cost, licence required). Stabling and grazing for your horse is available by arrangement with the owner nearby, and the surrounding areas offer lessons and trekking. Beach 2 miles. Shop, pub and restaurant 1/4 mile.

All on ground floor: Living room with quarry tiled floor. Dining room. Kitchen. Utility room. 2 double bedrooms (zip and link, can be 2ft 6in twin on request). Bathroom with shower over bath and toilet.

Woodburner in living room included. Oil central heating, electricity, bed linen and towels included. Travel cot. High chair. 42" Freeview TV. DVD. CD. Electric cooker. Microwave. Washing machine. Tumble dryer. Fridge. Freezer. Wi-fi. Enclosed garden with lawned area, patio and furniture. Barbecue. Parking (2 cars). Cycle store. Welcome pack. No smoking.

The cottage was well presented, clean and tidy, with a warm welcome from its owner. Lovely location for walking, dog walking especially. The kitchen was what let the property down; we would have expected a dishwasher. Apart from that small quibble, we would certainly think about returning.

Response on behalf of the owner: Thank you for your feedback. Unfortunately, we do not advertise a dishwasher as we do not have room for one.

Lovely cottage in a convenient location for visiting family in Cleethorpes as well as the coast. We had sunny weather so could sit in the delightful garden. Eggs were tasty and owner very friendly and helpful. WE'd llike to return when the hot tub is in place....!
