This stylish, high-ceilinged, first floor holiday apartment, set within a period property, is accessed via a flight of external stone steps and is within 500 yards of the beach. St Leonards-on-Sea is an original, seaside Regency New Town, just west of Hastings, and has a wonderful vintage feel to it. It has a mile long promenade and cycle track with magnificent coastal views. The town was purpose built in 1826 by the famous Regency architect and planner James Burton and his son Decimus who took over from him, alongside John Nash. There are many well laid out gardens, including Warrior Square. Norman Road, named as ’Portobello Road-on-Sea’ by The Times newspaper, offers a great collection of antique shops, vintage galleries, restaurants and cafes. Stroll further along the promenade to Hastings and explore the Old Town, with its weather-boarded cottages, junk shops, cafes and restaurants. Visit the ruins of Hastings Castle or take a trip along The Stade, the old fishing quarter, and indulge in some freshly caught shellfish straight from the boats. The village of Battle with its pretty tea rooms, Rye and its cobbled streets, or Camber Sands make for enjoyable days out. Warrior Square station is in easy walking distance, with good connections to London for additional sightseeing opportunities. Beach 500 yards. Shops, pubs and restaurants 500 yards.
